Voters who did not request a mail-in ballot, or who requested one but missed the return deadline, can vote at advance polling locations in their electoral district. Voters must cast their ballots in the district where they live, and each district has at least one advance poll available.

Elections Alberta received 652,000 requests for special mail-in ballots by the Sept. 25 cut-off date. The deadline to return those mail-in ballots was 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16.

To maintain the integrity of the vote, Elections Alberta keeps a live record of who has voted to ensure no one votes twice. If a special ballot has already been received and counted, the voter will be prevented from casting another ballot at an advance poll.
