Halifax Opens Applications for Anti-Black Racism Grants Program
The Halifax Regional Municipality is accepting applications from Oct. 1 to Nov. 14 for its Anti-Black Racism Grants Program, offering $500 to $10,000 to support local grassroots projects that combat anti-Black racism.
The Halifax Regional Municipality is now accepting applications for its Anti-Black Racism (ABR) Grants Program. The application window runs from Thursday, Oct. 1 until Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11:59 p.m.
Launched in 2024, the program aims to address anti-Black racism by supporting grassroots projects and initiatives. Grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 are available to fund community-based projects developed and delivered at the local level.
To qualify, applicants must explain or demonstrate how their proposed project combats or addresses at least one form of anti-Black racism. Eligible areas include racial segregation, historic omission, lack of recognition, systemic expropriation, and negative portrayal in media and literature.
