Nova Scotia teacher charged with multiple offences involving four students

Matthew Robert Donahoe, a 53-year-old teacher from Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, has been charged with several offences involving four students at Dr. W.A. MacLeod Consolidated School in Riverton, N.S.
Court documents indicate that the alleged offences occurred between September 3 and September 10, during the first week of classes. The charges involve four different youth.
Donahoe is accused of sexually assaulting, touching for a sexual purpose, and assaulting one student. Regarding a second student, he is accused of choking them, assaulting them, and administering lorazepam with intent to aggrieve or annoy. For a third student, the allegations include assault, choking, and assault with a chair. He is also accused of assaulting a fourth student.
The Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education removed Donahoe's access to the school and students at the time of the initial allegation. He is currently on unpaid leave. Supports have been made available at the school by the education centre.
A publication ban has been imposed on naming complainants or revealing identifying information. Donahoe is next scheduled to appear in court on October 19 for election and plea.
