CAE Secures $300 Million U.S. Air Force Contract Amid Canadian Procurement Ban
Montreal-based CAE Inc. has been awarded a $300 million contract to continue training U.S. Air Force crews on C-130 Hercules aircraft through 2035, despite a recent presidential decree banning federal procurement of Canadian items.
CAE Inc. has secured a $300-million contract to continue training U.S. Air Force crews, extending its role as the main contractor for schooling aircrews on the C-130 Hercules military transport plane. This position has been held by the company since 2018.
The training program covers pilots, flight engineers, and navigators and will take place at various U.S. air force bases, including locations in Little Rock, Arkansas; Georgia; Wyoming; Minnesota; and Missouri. The contract ensures these services will continue through 2035.
This award comes shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump issued a decree on Sept. 16 that bans the federal government from procuring Canadian items. It remains unclear whether this presidential order applies to services rather than just goods, or if Canadian companies with U.S. subsidiaries are exempt from the restrictions.
