Halifax Police Charge Woman with Manslaughter in Dartmouth Homicide Case
Kiara Marie Organ, 22, has been charged with manslaughter following the death of Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson in Dartmouth. The charge stems from a December 2024 incident where police initially responded to an assault report before discovering Emmerson deceased days later.
Halifax Regional Police have charged Kiara Marie Organ, 22, with manslaughter in connection with the homicide of Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson.
The investigation began on December 22, 2024, when police responded to a report of an assault on Geary Street in Dartmouth. Officers were informed that a male had been assaulted by a female. At that time, the man declined medical attention and further investigation.
Four days later, on December 26, 2024, police found 56-year-old Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson deceased in a tent in the same Geary Street area.
In June 2025, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service notified police that autopsy findings indicated the manner of death was homicide. Following this confirmation, authorities arrested Organ and laid the manslaughter charge.
Organ is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on the day of the announcement.
