Firefighters were called to the scene around 7:48 a.m. after workers reported that two chemicals had combined and started producing a noxious gas. The incident prompted firefighters to close the scene while they addressed the situation.

Assistant Fire Chief Robert Hebb confirmed that a plan to monitor the chemicals and ensure stability was implemented over the weekend. The disposal plan involved consultations with CANUTEC and the business to empty the tank and transfer the chemicals into portable totes for removal by an outside contractor.
