Canada Invests Over $14 Million to Support Nova Scotia Businesses Hit by U.S. Tariffs
Minister Sean Fraser announced more than $14.1 million in federal funding for 27 Nova Scotia businesses and organizations affected by U.S. tariffs, delivered through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative.
On September 2, 2026, Minister Sean Fraser announced federal investments totaling more than $14.1 million to support 27 businesses and organizations in Nova Scotia that have been impacted by U.S. tariffs. The announcement was made at Ace Machining Ltd. in Dartmouth, where Minister Fraser was joined by Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth–Cole Harbour.
The funding is provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), a program designed to help companies address tariff-related pressures, adapt their operations, modernize production, and expand into new markets. This specific allocation is part of a broader $7.5 billion package of measures introduced on August 25, 2026, which included an additional $1.5 billion specifically for the RTRI.

Among the recipients, Ace Machining Limited received $442,000 to purchase and install an automated CNC milling station, a move intended to increase productivity and efficiency. Other significant investments include $1,000,000 for KD Parma Canada Ltd. to implement urea filtration technology for producing ultra-high purity Omega-3 concentrates, and $998,300 for LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. to fund digitalization, automation, and productivity upgrades.
Lobster Hub Inc. also received $994,700 for innovative processing equipment aimed at diversifying its product line and reducing waste. The supported entities are located across various communities in Nova Scotia, including Halifax, Sydney, Truro, Lunenburg, and Mahone Bay, among others.

The initiative aims to strengthen supply chains, enhance competitiveness in sectors such as steel, aluminum, automotive, food security, and forestry, and create jobs while modernizing operations. By supporting these adaptations, the government seeks to help businesses navigate trade disruptions and pursue long-term growth.
