Halifax man accused of following women into apartments granted bail under house arrest in Ontario

Pradeep Kuppala, 29, faces six charges after allegedly following three women into Halifax apartment buildings. After breaching his initial bail conditions, he was released again on a $6,000 order requiring him to live under house arrest in Brampton, Ont.

A 29-year-old man accused of following three women into their Halifax apartment buildings has been granted bail for a second time, despite facing additional charges for violating his initial release conditions.

Pradeep Kuppala faces six charges stemming from incidents on Sept. 10 and 11. The charges include three counts of criminal harassment, two counts of mischief, and one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. According to Halifax Regional Police, the same man followed three women into their apartment buildings, and one incident involved an attempt to enter a unit.

Kuppala was arrested on Sept. 13 and released on bail the following day. He was re-arrested on Sept. 19 on three counts of breaching his bail conditions.

Judge Del Atwood approved Kuppala's release on a $6,000 order. His cousin will act as surety. Under the terms of his release, Kuppala must reside in Brampton, Ont., under house arrest conditions that allow four hours per week for personal needs.

The bail conditions prohibit Kuppala from contacting the three female complainants. He is also required to stay at least 25 metres away from their specific apartment buildings located on South Park, Brunswick, and Preston streets.

Court documents indicate that at the time of the alleged offences, Kuppala was living on South Park Street and was employed by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

The charges are scheduled to return to provincial court on Nov. 12.
