Halifax Regional Municipality Unveils 2026–2030 Strategic Plan
The Halifax Regional Municipality has introduced its new four-year strategic framework, outlining five priority areas and an accompanying action plan to guide municipal operations and service delivery.
The Halifax Regional Municipality has officially introduced its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, establishing the overarching guide for municipal operations, projects, and service delivery over the next four years. Developed by Regional Council, municipal employees, and strategic partners, the plan defines the municipality’s purpose, vision, mission, values, and priorities.
The strategic framework is built around five key priority areas: Enabling Prosperity, Strengthening Communities, Moving Better, Responsible Administration, and Our People. These priorities aim to build inclusive, sustainable communities and a resilient economy while improving quality of life, safety, belonging, and environmental protection. The plan also seeks to create a safer, more reliable, and efficient transportation system, commits to fiscal responsibility and community engagement in administration, and aims to make the organization a place where employees feel engaged, safe, and proud.
To achieve these goals, an accompanying Action Plan outlines the major projects and initiatives the municipality will undertake. The development of the Strategic Plan was informed by the 2024 Resident Survey as well as existing municipal plans and strategies.
