The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking feedback from residents of Upper Hammonds Plains and Upper Tantallon regarding potential connector road(s) between the two communities. The engagement aims to improve community access and emergency egress in the area.

The work is being undertaken in response to conversations about community resilience and emergency preparedness. It is coordinated with the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Action Planning process.
Project considerations include routing, connectivity, traffic flow, design features, and necessary policy changes required for road construction.
Residents can participate through an online survey available at engagehalifax.ca/uhp-ut-connector-roads from Monday, Oct. 5 to Friday, Oct. 23. In addition, two in-person engagement sessions are scheduled:
- Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Centre, 711 Pockwock Road.
- Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tantallon Public Library, 3646 Hammonds Plains Road.

Following the completion of the study in early 2027, staff will present the results and recommended next steps to Regional Council to inform future decisions.
