Halifax West High School Placed Under Lockdown After Phone Threat
Halifax West High School in Nova Scotia was placed under lockdown on Thursday after receiving a threatening phone call during the lunch hour. Halifax Regional Police responded and directed students and staff outside the building to a safe gathering point, while families were asked not to come to the school.
Halifax West High School in Nova Scotia was placed under lockdown on Thursday after receiving a threatening phone call during the lunch hour. The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) stated that the threat against the school was received at approximately 12:25 p.m. AT.
The school, located at 283 Thomas Raddall Dr., immediately contacted police upon receiving the call. Administrators placed the building in lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Students and staff who were outside the building when the threat was received were directed away from the school to a safe gathering point. Halifax Regional Police responded to the incident and are managing access to the area.
Police have asked the public to avoid the area while they respond to the situation. HRCE spokesperson Lindsey Bunin indicated that families are being asked not to come to the school.
