China Sets 80% Mechanization Target for Crop Production by 2030

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have jointly issued the 'National Agricultural Mechanization Development 15th Five-Year Plan', aiming to exceed an 80% comprehensive mechanization rate for crop cultivation, sowing, and harvesting by 2030.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the 'National Agricultural Mechanization Development 15th Five-Year Plan'. The document outlines specific goals for China's agricultural sector, targeting a comprehensive mechanization rate for crop cultivation, sowing, and harvesting to exceed 80% by 2030.

In addition to the national average, the plan sets a distinct target for hilly and mountainous areas, where the comprehensive mechanization rate for crops is expected to increase to over 75% by 2030. This goal addresses the challenges often faced in these terrains compared to flat plains.

The strategy emphasizes the widespread application of new technologies, including artificial intelligence and new energy solutions, within agricultural mechanization. It also aims to improve social service capabilities for machinery operations, ensuring that farmers have better access to modern equipment and support services.

To achieve these objectives, the plan deploys five key tasks:

  1. Promoting the high-quality development of agricultural machinery equipment.
  2. Breaking through bottlenecks in pilot testing.
  3. Expanding application scenarios for mechanized farming.
  4. Improving production quality and disaster resilience.
  5. Strengthening full-chain policy support.

These measures are designed to drive significant progress in high-quality agricultural mechanization development. By enhancing the capacity for disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief in agricultural machinery operations, the plan seeks to create a more robust and efficient agricultural system across China.
