Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Dartmouth Stabbing
Everett Laybolt, 41, faces attempted murder charges after a stabbing on Nantucket Avenue in Dartmouth left a 30-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries.
Halifax Regional Municipality Police have charged Everett Laybolt, 41, with attempted murder following a violent incident in Dartmouth. The charges stem from a stabbing that occurred on September 21 at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Nantucket Avenue.
The victim, a 30-year-old man, sustained stab wounds during the attack. Emergency Health Services (EHS) transported him to the hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
According to police reports, the suspect fled the scene after the incident. Officers located and arrested Laybolt approximately 20 minutes later, at around 8:30 p.m., while he was aboard a Halifax Transit bus. During the arrest, officers seized a knife.
Laybolt is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he faces allegations of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
