Drivers in Halifax should expect delays as the Massachusetts Avenue ramp to Robie Street undergoes a multi-week closure. The ramp, which connects from the MacKay bridge and Barrington Street, will be fully closed starting Monday at 6 a.m. until November 27.
This closure is necessary to support the construction of the Bayne Street ramp connection, a key component of the broader Windsor Street Exchange project. Once completed, the new Bayne Street ramp is intended to provide a more direct route for port traffic coming from Barrington Street and the MacKay bridge. This change aims to reduce heavy truck traffic moving through other parts of the Windsor Street Exchange.
During the closure period, detour signage will guide drivers traveling from the MacKay bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange to access Robie Street. Municipal staff will monitor traffic conditions and make adjustments as needed.
Notably, access toward Dartmouth via the MacKay bridge remains unaffected by this specific construction work. Drivers can still travel from the Windsor Street Exchange, Massachusetts Avenue, and Barrington Street toward Dartmouth without interruption.
