Nova Scotia Allocates Over $30 Million for Winter Heating Rebate Program
Applications are now open for Nova Scotia's winter heating assistance rebate, offering eligible residents a $400 credit. The province is investing more than $30 million this year to support low-income households with heating costs.
Nova Scotia has announced it will spend more than $30 million to help residents pay their heating bills this winter through its rebate program. Eligible Nova Scotians can receive a $400 credit to assist with these costs.
The application period opened on Thursday and will remain available until the deadline of March 31. To qualify, families must have a combined net income of $45,000 or less, while single-person households must have an income of $30,000 or less.
Residents can submit their applications online or in person at Access Nova Scotia Centres or MLA offices.
This initiative continues a long-standing effort by the province to provide financial assistance to low-income households during the colder months. Since the program’s inception in 2021, Nova Scotia has invested more than $340 million in total. Last year alone, over 54,000 households received rebates from the program.
