Nova Scotia Energy Board Invokes Interrupter Clause for Gasoline Prices Effective Nov. 7
The Nova Scotia Energy Board will adjust prices for all grades of gasoline at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, citing significant market shifts. Diesel prices are not affected by this adjustment.
The Nova Scotia Energy Board announced that the interrupter clause will be invoked to adjust prices for all grades of gasoline in Nova Scotia, effective 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. The board stated the adjustment is necessary due to significant shifts in market prices.
The official release did not specify whether the new prices would represent an increase or a decrease. However, SaltWire reported that market conditions in the oil industry have been trending downward over the past few days.
Diesel prices are not affected by this specific interruption. Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, an interrupter was used to lower the price of diesel by 13.3 cents per litre.
Currently, regular unleaded gasoline in Zone 1, which includes the Halifax Regional Municipality, ranges from 171.7 to 174.7 cents per litre. Six weeks prior to the report, regular unleaded gas in Nova Scotia had reached 204.1 cents per litre.
The benchmark price for gasoline in the province is based on the average daily market price of refined gasoline traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, converted into Canadian dollars.
