Nova Scotia and Vermont Sign Three-Year Agreement to Advance Clean Energy Collaboration
Nova Scotia and Vermont have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding on Transmission Collaboration and Regional Grid Integration, establishing a framework to cooperate on offshore wind energy, electricity transmission planning, and regional grid integration.
Nova Scotia and Vermont have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on Transmission Collaboration and Regional Grid Integration. The agreement is effective for three years and includes an option to renew for an additional three years.
The memorandum establishes a framework for collaboration on offshore wind energy, electricity transmission planning, and regional grid integration. It aims to support clean energy development and regional energy security while exploring opportunities to deliver Nova Scotia’s offshore wind resources to meet growing demand in New England.
Premier Tim Houston stated that the partnership helps turn Nova Scotia's offshore wind advantage into economic opportunity and supports the Wind West vision. The agreement is intended to provide confidence to investors, support transmission planning, and position Nova Scotia as an emerging leader in renewable energy development.
Vermont Governor Phil Scott emphasized that regional partnerships are critical for reaching goals of affordable, clean, and reliable energy.
The collaboration strengthens ties between Nova Scotia and Vermont and creates opportunities for knowledge sharing across the Northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada.
