Nova Scotia Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault and Other Offenses
Matthew Donahoe, a 53-year-old teacher from Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including sexual assault. The charges follow an incident reported at Dr. W.A. MacLeod Consolidated School in Pictou County, where police believe there may be additional victims.
Matthew Donahoe, a 53-year-old teacher residing in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, was safely arrested on September 23 following reports of assaults at a school in Pictou County. He faces a series of serious charges, including four counts of assault, two counts of assault by choking, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, sexual interference, and administering a noxious thing.
The investigation began after an initial report of assault occurred on September 10 at Dr. W.A. MacLeod Consolidated School in Riverton. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), officers have identified other victims of similar assaults that took place during the current school year. Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are continuing their investigation.
In response to the situation, the Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education (CCRCE) confirmed that Donahoe has been placed on leave. The CCRCE stated that they are offering support to students affected by the events. Families have been notified about the arrest and the ongoing police investigation.
