P.E.I. Man Pleads Not Guilty to First Terrorism Charges in Atlantic Canada
Daniel Desmond Crowder of North Rustico, P.E.I., has pleaded not guilty to two terrorism charges laid by the RCMP in November 2025, which police describe as the first such charges ever brought in Atlantic Canada.
Daniel Desmond Crowder of North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, has pleaded not guilty to two terrorism charges laid by the RCMP in November 2025. According to police, these are the first terrorism charges ever laid in Atlantic Canada.
Crowder was not present in court on Tuesday when his lawyer entered the not guilty pleas on his behalf. The two terrorism charges allege that he knowingly facilitated a terrorist activity by possessing weapons and manufacturing firearms, and that he possessed specific items — including weapons, 3D-printing equipment, tire puncturing devices, instructional literature, AR-15 guides, and manufactured firearms and components — with the intent that they be used for terrorist activity.
In addition to the terrorism counts, Crowder also pleaded not guilty to other charges related to manufacturing firearms, weapons possession, and uttering threats. These additional charges stem from evidence gathered during the execution of a search warrant at a home in central P.E.I. in February 2025.
Prior to his arrest in November, Crowder had been subject to a one-year terrorism peace bond that took effect in August 2025. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again in the coming months.
