Truro Police Issue Advisory for High-Risk Sex Offender Residing in Area

The Truro Police Service has notified the public that 43-year-old Matthew William Rozins, a high-risk sex offender with convictions across several provinces, is now living in the Truro area under strict court-ordered conditions. Police warned against vigilante action and urged residents to report any breaches of his release terms.

The Truro Police Service issued a media release on October 21 advising the public that Matthew William Rozins, a 43-year-old high-risk sex offender, is currently living in the Truro area of Nova Scotia. Police are monitoring his compliance with court-ordered conditions.

Rozins has a criminal history involving offences committed in several provinces, including sexual assault, trespassing at night, indecent acts, assault, and criminal harassment.

Under his release conditions, Rozins is prohibited from being in the presence of people under the age of 16. He must not attend locations where minors are present, such as parks, swimming areas, daycare centres, schools, playgrounds, or community centres. He is also barred from having contact or communication with anyone under 16 unless supervised by a person approved by the court.

Additionally, Rozins cannot seek, obtain, or continue employment—whether paid or volunteer—that places him in a position of trust or authority over people under the age of 16. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Police stated that any form of vigilante action, intimidation, or harassment directed toward Rozins will not be tolerated and may result in criminal charges.
