Police hunt suspects in Sydney home invasion; IDF soldier shoots Palestinian in West Bank

Authorities in Sydney, Nova Scotia, are actively searching for three masked suspects following a violent home invasion on Alexandra Street. The incident resulted in a 30-year-old man being shot, though his injuries were described as non-life-threatening. He was transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital for treatment.
Cape Breton Regional Police confirmed that the attack was not random, stating that the suspects and the victim knew each other. Following the shooting, the intruders fled the scene in a Toyota Camry. This vehicle was later located in the Woodbine Road area of Marion Bridge. An emergency alert regarding the shooting was issued Saturday morning but was cancelled around 2 p.m. after police determined there was no ongoing threat to public safety. As of now, the three suspects remain at large.
In a separate development in the occupied West Bank, an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier shot and wounded Qassem Hussam, a Palestinian man in his mid-30s, in Faqqua. The shooting occurred when villagers confronted Israeli settlers who were grazing livestock on Palestinian-owned land. Hussam was wounded in the leg.
The IDF confirmed that the shooter was one of its soldiers and stated that the incident is currently under review by commanders. This event takes place amidst reports of rising settler violence in the region. Diplomatic tensions have also escalated, with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband recently announcing sweeping sanctions on trade with Israeli settlements and declaring Israel's occupation of the West Bank unlawful.
