Prime Minister Mark Carney to Attend Forever Canadian Rallies in Alberta Ahead of Referendum
Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted an invitation to speak at two Forever Canadian rallies in Calgary and Edmonton this week, ahead of Alberta's October 19 provincial referendum. Separately, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and Premier Danielle Smith are expected to address a different event in Calgary on Friday.

Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted an invitation to attend two Forever Canadian rallies in Alberta this week, with stops planned in Calgary on Thursday and Edmonton on Friday.
The invitation was extended by Thomas Lukaszuk, founder of the Forever Canadian campaign, through a social media post on Monday. The campaign aims to promote federalism and address Albertan concerns regarding immigration and constitutional issues. Lukaszuk stated that separatism is not an answer to the concerns highlighted by Albertans and expressed his belief that Carney's message resonates with the idea that federalism works through cooperation.
The rallies come as Albertans prepare to vote on 10 questions in a provincial referendum on Oct. 19. The questions address immigration, constitutional issues, and whether the province should stay in Canada or hold a binding referendum on separating.
Carney previously delivered his Thanksgiving address to Albertans from St. Francis Xavier High School in west Edmonton, where he stated that Canada is worth fighting for despite economic threats.
In a separate political engagement ahead of the referendum, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith are expected to deliver addresses at a different event in Calgary on Friday.
