The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have laid terrorism-related charges against Louay Angoud, a 24-year-old man from Quebec City. Authorities allege that Angoud intended to carry out an attack on behalf of the Islamic State.
According to the charges, Angoud communicated online with members of a terrorist group and gathered information to build a chemical weapon that could be used to poison Canadians.
The specific offences include using or possessing property for terrorist purposes, commission of offence for a terrorist group, participating in activity of a terrorist group, and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
Angoud was scheduled to appear in court in Quebec City on the day of the report.
