The 2026 Canada Sail Grand Prix in Halifax delivered approximately $64.7 million in economic impact, driven by a 31 percent surge in non-local spectators. Organizers have confirmed the event will return to the city on May 15-16, 2027.
The 2026 Canada Sail Grand Prix (SailGP) held in Halifax this past June generated roughly $64.7 million in total economic impact for the city, representing an increase of nearly four per cent compared with the 2024 event.

Around 12,000 ticketed spectators attended the races, with thousands more gathering along the Halifax harbour to watch the competition. More than half of the spectators at the 2026 event came from outside of Halifax, and non-local attendance jumped by 31 per cent compared with 2024. This growth in out-of-town visitors generated increased visitor spending across the region.
Beyond the local financial benefits, the event showcased Halifax and Nova Scotia to audiences around the world.

Following the success of the June races, organizers confirmed that SailGP is set to return to Halifax next year. The 2027 event has been scheduled for May 15 to 16.
