SiRT Investigates Serious Injuries Following Halifax Police Interaction

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has launched an investigation into serious injuries sustained by an adult male following an interaction with members of the Halifax Regional Police (HRP). The incident occurred in the early morning hours of April 18, 2026.
According to reports, HRP officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit during which a spike belt was deployed to stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as an adult male, exited the vehicle and fled on foot before being tracked down and arrested by police.
An altercation took place during the arrest process, resulting in serious injuries to the man's face and chest. Due to the severity of these injuries, SiRT assumed responsibility for the investigation.
