The order for her detention was issued by Lahore's deputy commissioner and specifies a 30-day period at Kot Lakhpat jail. According to authorities, Khanum was mobilizing Imran Khan's supporters through social media and public meetings with the intent to create law and order situations.
Her son, Shahrez Khan, publicly demanded that the government disclose his mother's whereabouts and ensure her safe return. Officials from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have described the action as an "illegal detention."
Imran Khan has been detained since 2023 and faces over 100 cases against him, including a recent 14-year sentence for land corruption. In response to the upcoming demonstrations, security measures have been heightened in Islamabad, with streets lined with shipping containers to safeguard government buildings.
