Canada to Issue $150 Supplemental Payment for Disability Benefit Recipients
The Government of Canada announced a one-time supplemental payment of $150 for Canada Disability Benefit recipients to help offset the costs of obtaining the disability tax credit, with payments beginning automatically on September 17, 2026.
Minister Patty Hajdu has announced that the government will provide a new supplemental payment for recipients of the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). Beginning September 17, 2026, eligible CDB recipients will receive a one-time supplemental payment of $150. This payment is intended to help applicants offset the costs associated with obtaining the disability tax credit (DTC).
Recipients are eligible for a supplemental payment of $150 for each approved DTC certificate that qualifies them for the CDB. Individuals do not need to apply for this supplemental payment; it will be issued automatically to those who qualify.
On September 17, 2026, eligible and entitled CDB recipients who received a CDB payment during the months of July 2025 to June 2026 will receive the supplemental payment. Further payments are scheduled for Winter 2027, when individuals who became eligible for a CDB payment at any time since July 2026 and those approved for a new DTC certificate will receive their supplemental payments.
To date, 335,650 people have received Canada Disability Benefit payments totalling $813,074,098 since the first payments were issued in July 2025. Amendments to the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette Part II on July 1, 2026, and came into force on September 1, 2026.
