Bedford Highway Traffic Delays Expected Oct. 24 for Annual Valve Maintenance
The Halifax Regional Municipality has announced traffic delays on two sections of the Bedford Highway on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., due to annual valve maintenance work. Transit services and active transportation lanes will also be affected.
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising motorists to expect traffic delays on the Bedford Highway on Saturday, Oct. 24, as crews carry out annual valve maintenance work. The scheduled activities will affect two separate stretches of the highway between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
On the section of the Bedford Highway between Flamingo Drive and Bayview Road, two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the maintenance window, though drivers should anticipate delays. As part of the work in this area, bus stop #6217 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon.
A second section of the Bedford Highway, between Larry Uteck Boulevard and Fern Avenue, will operate under different conditions during the same hours. Stop-and-go traffic with one-way flow will be in place along this stretch. The traffic control measures are expected to delay Halifax Transit service operations. Additionally, the bicycle lane between Larry Uteck Boulevard and Fern Avenue will be closed, with signage directing cyclists accordingly.
Drivers traveling through either section of the Bedford Highway are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
