Overnight Lane Reductions on Highway 111 Scheduled for Oct. 25–27
The Halifax Regional Municipality has announced overnight traffic delays on Highway 111 from October 25 to October 27, 2026, as crews pave a new Bayne Street ramp connection for the Windsor Street Exchange project.
Drivers traveling on Highway 111 from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange should expect delays during two scheduled overnight work periods in late October 2026.
The Halifax Regional Municipality announced that the work will take place from 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, to 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, and from 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. The purpose of the closures is to facilitate paving the new Bayne Street ramp connection from Highway 111 as part of the broader Windsor Street Exchange project.
During these overnight periods, several lane reductions will be in effect. The MacKay Bridge ramp onto Highway 111 toward the Windsor Street Exchange will be reduced to one lane. Additionally, the existing lane reduction on the Barrington Street ramp toward the Windsor Street Exchange will be extended to allow merging with traffic from the MacKay Bridge. Highway 111 itself will also be reduced to one lane in the direction of the Windsor Street Exchange while the work is underway.
Once completed later in the year, the new Bayne Street connection is expected to provide a more direct route for port traffic originating from Barrington Street and the MacKay Bridge.
