Traffic Delays Expected at University Avenue and Robie Street Intersection in Halifax
Nova Scotia Power's electrical system conversion work will cause traffic delays, signal shutdowns, sidewalk closures, and bike lane impacts at the intersection of University Avenue and Robie Street in Halifax on Oct. 17 and 18.
Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists in Halifax should prepare for disruptions at the intersection of University Avenue and Robie Street on Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18. The Halifax Regional Municipality has announced that Nova Scotia Power will be conducting work to convert the existing 4 kV electrical system in the area to a 25 kV system.

The work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. During these hours, traffic signals at the intersection will be shut down. Traffic control personnel will be on site to manage stop-and-go traffic, and delays are expected.
Pedestrians traveling westbound on University Avenue and northbound on Robie Street will encounter sidewalk closures. Marked detours will be in place to guide foot traffic around the work zone.
Cyclists will also be affected, as the bike lane at the intersection will be impacted by the construction activities. Those traveling by bicycle are encouraged to use alternative routes during the two-day work period.
