Overnight Line Painting to Cause Lane Reductions and Delays on Highway 111 in Halifax
The Halifax Regional Municipality has announced overnight lane reductions on Highway 111 and connecting ramps during two periods in early November to facilitate line painting for the new Bayne Street ramp connection at the Windsor Street Exchange.
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising drivers to expect traffic delays on Highway 111 from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange. The disruptions are tied to line painting work on the new Bayne Street ramp connection, which is part of the broader Windsor Street Exchange project.
The work is scheduled across two overnight periods. The first window runs from 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, to 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. A second period is set from 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.
During these times, several lane reductions will be in effect. The MacKay Bridge ramp onto Highway 111 toward the Windsor Street Exchange will be reduced to one lane. The existing lane reduction on the Barrington Street ramp toward the Windsor Street Exchange will be extended. Additionally, Highway 111 itself will be reduced to one lane in the direction of the Windsor Street Exchange while the work is underway.
The new Bayne Street ramp connection aims to provide a more direct route for port traffic traveling from Barrington Street and the MacKay Bridge.
Drivers are advised to expect delays and to use alternative routes where possible.
