Schoolhouse Brewery, an award-winning craft brewery based in Windsor, Nova Scotia, is expanding its operations by opening a new taproom in Lower Sackville within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Owner Cameron Hartley has signed a lease for the space at 833 Sackville Dr., which previously housed the Tapestry Beer Bar before it closed in August.

The new location will feature a partnership with the nearby Pizzadelic franchise to provide food through a pass-through kitchen. The franchise operator for Pizzadelic also serves as the landlord of the building. Hartley hopes to open the taproom by Christmas at the end of the year, though he acknowledges the launch could extend into early 2027.

Schoolhouse Brewery officially started in 2014 in the basement of the former Falmouth School No. 9, where it was the smallest commercial brewery in Nova Scotia at launch. In 2017, the business moved to a former garage along Windsor’s waterfront, adding a taproom, restaurant, and retail outlet. There are currently no plans to move the beer production operation from downtown Windsor.

The expansion follows recent industry recognition for the brewery's beers. At the Down East Brew Conference in the spring, Schoolhouse won three awards: gold for its Valedictorian blonde, silver for its Vice-Principal IPA, and silver for its Martock IPA. In October, the Valedictorian blonde earned a silver medal in the golden ale category at the Canada Beer Cup.

The planned second location has received positive feedback and a warm welcome from area residents and the Sackville Business Association.
